64.museum.online@protonmail.com

64.museum.online@protonmail.com

Monthly Bulletin from the ‘June 4th Memory & Human Rights Museum’, Mar 2021

Dear supporter of the 'June 4th Memory & Human Rights Museum',

This March must have been a tough one for many. In Hong Kong, 47 candidates in the 2020 pro-democracy primaries were notified to report to the police and ware later charged of ‘subverting state power’. In Myanmar, the junta has shocked the entire world by opening fire on the protesters, leaving at least 126 deaths as of 15 March. These news developments are reminders of the June 4th massacre: the tyranny and the injustice are still ravaging, yet the people are fighting back with great courage.

The 'June 4th Memory & Human Rights Museum' is now sorting and listing the histories of people in Hong Kong commemorating the struggles in 1989, which also laid the road for Hong Kong people fighting for their democracy and freedom. While the apparatus is trying to wipe out the memories, we are working to reveal the forgotten voices, and to portray the face wounded by tanks and bullets. The visual design for museum has been largely confirmed, and the curating team for the website is setting out to refine and visualise the collection according to the narratives of the June 4th massacre. Meanwhile, we will commence building our online database, which will be open to our partners for them to improve and supplement our collection.

We would like to ask for your help: if you possess any collections, or have participated in any researches related to the 1989 student demonstration and the democracy movement, please contact us at 64.museum.online@protonmail.com to have your contributions permanently archived in our online museum as part of the historical context for public access. Representatives from institutions preserving any aforementioned materials are welcome as well.

Please contact us at 64.museum.online@protonmail.com should you have any advice or information that you would like us to know.

With you, we are moving forward at this difficult time.
